Peoria, AZ) -March 24, 2023 – With a name like “Wild West Shootout,” you had to have known the first stop on the Centurion World Series of Wake Surfing was going to be a wild one! Wild was the completion indeed, as the largest competitor field in the history of this event, filling out 15 divisions including the new Adaptive division, took the water at Lake Pleasant. This is the first year an Adaptive division is being added to the Centurion World Wake Surfing Championship so many of the World Series of Wake Surfing stops like the Wild West Shootout are honoring adaptive athletes with the opportunity to earn an invitation to WWSC. The conditions proved to have a wild side of their own with some wind and chop, but the World’s best wave and ride produced by a 2023 Centurion Ri245 provided by event host Century Marine, kept the competitors in the fight. Finals day is set-up for some amazing fire fights on the water with new comers emerging as forces to be reconned with as well as World Champions hoping to be the last one standing on the podium. Tune in to the live stream to witness the battles. Even hosting Centurion Dealer Century Marine is proving it on the water with Water Proof Tour Demos stack-up for these two days. As the first 2023 World Series of Wake Surfing stop this is definitely a wild one!
This being the first stop on the 2023 World Series of Wake Surfing Tour, we enjoyed seeing many new athletes grab the rope and pull themselves up for the moment. This event also brought out some familiar faces and athletes who continue to push the limits of this sport every time they jump in the water. To see the full Running Order for Day 2, visit the Wild West Shootout event page.
This year, in addition to being the kickoff qualifier event for the World Wakesurf Championship, Operation Wake Surf and Arizona Adaptive Watersports (AAWS) are participating in the event. Operation Wake Surf is a nonprofit dedicated to sharing the passion for watersports with first responders, veterans and others who serve.
In addition to the pro wake surfer competition, this year Arizona Adaptive Watersports (AAWS), a faith-based organization committed to enabling anyone with a disability to get on the water, is sponsoring the first ever Adaptive Wakesurf division for surfers with disabilities.
Finally, Century Marine is offering the opportunity to demo Centurion and Supreme boats and get out on the water. Don’t just watch, participate!
We’d also like to thank all the sponsors for this event and the roles they play in the Marine Community. Your support helps Make Lives Better!
Be sure to tune into the livestream tomorrow and catch all the action including the finals for the 2023 Wild West Shootout hosted by Century Marine!
