March 27, 2023 – We had an amazing time at Lake Pleasant, AZ for the first stop of the Centurion World Series of Wake Surfing. The Wild West Shootout hosted by Century Marine, proved to be an exciting event and a great way to kick off the surf season.

The level of competition for the event was as high as it’s ever been, with many of the best riders in the sport showing up to throw down. This year with the Centurion World Series of Wake Surfing, we have expanded the number of divisions within our tour, to create a more inclusive competition for the water sport enthusiasts and communities that we serve. This year the WWS included the largest competitor field in the history of this event, filling out 19 divisions including the new Adaptive division. This is the first year an Adaptive division is being added to the Centurion World Wake Surfing Championship. Many of the World Series of Wake Surfing stops like the Wild West Shootout will be honoring adaptive athletes with the opportunity to earn an invitation to WWSC.

By the end of the weekend, there were some familiar Centurion Team Athletes who managed to find a spot on the podium. In the Youth Girls division, Mackenzie Hickey finished 1st with a great all around weekend of consistent riding from this young star.

An exciting duel in the Masters Male Skim division, ended with Chad Hudson beating out a long time Vet in the sport as well as the voice of the WSWS, Sean Cummings in what proved to be a close battle in that division.

Whitley Stewart continued to display her excellence in the Pro Female Skim division, capturing a first place finish to continue where she left off at the WWSC last year in North Carolina.

Tyler Stewart earned a 2nd place podium finish on the weekend in the Pro Male Surf and Skim divisions, showcasing why he is one of the best riders across both divisions in the sport today.

The last division of the weekend packed a whole lot of punch as four Centurion Team Athletes finished atop the leaderboard. With so much fire power coming out of this division, “difficult” would be an understatement when describing how to land a spot on this final podium. At the end of action, it would be Lake Pleasant local Connor Burns who would be crowned champion, knocking off fellow Centurion athletes Tyler Stewart, Jake Breedlove, and Keenan Flegel who would finish 2nd , 3rd , and 4th in this division.
